SUPPORTING CHILDREN WITH CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE

    December 2012

    December 2012 Newsletter

Welcome to our monthly newsletter! by Sarah Nicole Parker

I’d like to use this letter to formally say hello to everyone as the newest trustee to Amelia Matters! And for those of you that are new to Amelia Matters as well I’d like to briefly remind you what it is all about; Amelia Matters is a charity that helps to support children who suffer from Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). By educating and raising awareness we hope to help children living with a CHD and their families.

The name comes from my little sister who was diagnosed in the womb with CHD, who (if you can’t already guess!) is called Amelia. Amelia’s condition opened us up to a world that was completely new to us, in fact, I’d never even thought of children getting heart conditions. But they do and Amelia being in hospital was the most heart wrenching experience. To see pictures of Amelia and read her journeys please see the ‘Amelia’s story’ tab on the website.

I’d be amiss to not mention Christmas in this month’s newsletter. Christmas is a wonderful time of year, especially when you are surrounded by children. But for some people Christmas is an especially difficult time as they are reminded of their loss and painful memories of their children. We hope that whilst you enjoy your Christmas that you take a moment to remember the CHD warriors that we have lost along the way and find it in your heart to think of Amelia Matters. Remember, even a £1 makes a difference (and we’re not just saying that!)

Coming up VERY soon we have the Gala Charity Ball on the 9th of February. Why not treat your other half and buy tickets and an overnight stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Cadbury House Bristol for a Christmas present? A perfect gift for someone who has everything.

If anyone would like to contact me please don’t hesitate to email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it – I’d love to hear from you!

From all of us at Amelia Matters, we wish you a very ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!’
